Ithacan Movie Club - “KAPODISTRIAS”

Members and friends who attended the screening of Kapodistrias ‘The Governor’ on Sunday 24 May at Palace Balwyn were provided with an intimate perspective on the life of Ioannis Kapodistrias, a visionary diplomat and the first Governor of modern Greece, called upon to lead the newly independent Greek nation through a fragile and uncertain beginning.

Following the screening guests enjoyed light refreshements and an opportunitty to discuss the film which was an insightful exploration of a defining period in the history of the modern Greek nation. Many commented that as well as giving them a deeper understanding of the social, political, and cultural forces at work during the period, the film also provided a portrait of an exceptional man whose ideals helped define a nation.
