Efstathios Raftopoulos started publishing the Odysseus Newspaper in 1973. The Odysseus kept Ithacans, both at home and abroad, abreast of Ithacan news. Today, a voluntary committee of seven produces four issues a year with the help of a number of international correspondents. Some 800 copies are distributed throughout Australia, and indeed around the world, enabling fellow Ithacans to keep in touch with each other and their beloved island.

Contributions are happily received and Odysseus readers look forward eagerly to receiving their copies of the paper..

The Odysseus Newspaper is bi-lingual and therefore is a valuable resource for the younger generation, also acting as a historical document. It covers many issues including:
